Football fans were left excited after a video showing Lionel Messi laughing at Sergio Ramos surfaced online.

Messi and Ramos started for Paris Saint-Germain against Monaco in their third Ligue 1 game.

PSG were frustrated by Monaco despite enjoying a huge chunk of the possession and creating better chances. The game ended in a one-all draw, with Neymar cancelling out Kevin Volland's first-half effort.

With the ties finely poised at 1-1, Ramos went forward in his usual nature in search of a winner. The former Real Madrid defender is known for scoring his crucial goals at crucial times despite being a centre-back.

But against Monaco, he failed and did so hilariously. The ball was swung into the area before Marquinhos flicked it onto Ramos' path. The Spanish international chested it down before attempting an audacious bicycle kick.

However, the 36-year-old missed the ball completely. Kylian Mbappe attempted to score on the rebound, but it was blocked. Ramos remained on the ground and to make matters worse, Messi turned around and let out a huge smile.

There wasn't any indication that Ramos took offence as the two continue to share a very weird and rare new-found friendship.

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Lionel Messi was the star of the show as Paris Saint Germain thrashed Clermont Foot 5-0 to get off to a flying start to their Ligue 1 title defence.

Christophe Galtier’s side were thoroughly dominant, even by their own standards, and it all revolved around Messi.

The Argentine was instrumental for his side on Saturday, August 6 as he teed up Neymar for the opener at Stade Gabriel Montpied early in the first half.
