  • Zinedine Zidane will not take charge of PSG this summer because he intends to take over as France manager after the World Cup
  • The former Real Madrid manager was PSG's first-choice name to replace Mauricio Pochettino, who is expected to be officially sacked in the coming days
  • Nice boss Christophe Galtier is now the new favourite to take over at the Parc des Princes after Zidane ruled himself out of the running for the PSG post

Zinedine Zidane has reiterated his desire to return to football management after over a year without a club but will not be taking up the soon-to-be-vacant Paris Saint-Germain job.

PSG are looking for Mauricio Pochettino’s successor as the Paris club is believed to be fed up with the Argentine’s coaching tactics and has identified the 49-year-old World Cup winner as a perfect replacement.

According to a report via the Daily Mail, Zidane is set on coaching the French national side after the 2022 World Cup and therefore has rejected PSG's advances.

Nice boss Christophe Galtier is now in the driving seat to take over the PSG position when Mauricio Pochettino is finally relieved of his position.

Zidane who is the only manager to the UEFA Champions League three times in a row has been out of a job since leaving Spanish giants Real Madrid for a second time last summer.

Pochettino’s exit from PSG turns sour

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino’s relationship with the PSG hierarchy has turned sour over disagreement on his severance package from the Paris club.

The Daily Post reports PSG and the former Tottenham manager have hit a brick wall over a £17 million compensation fee to be paid to the Argentine.

The French Ligue 1 champions are unwilling to pay the figure agreed upon and want to slash the sum while Pochettino has no intention of leaving without getting the full value of his severance package.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Zinedine Zidane has finally broken his silence on his managerial future amid reports he could be headed to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Frenchman has not been in the dugout for a year now since quitting his role as Real Madrid boss in 2021.

The 49-year-old had two successful stints at the helm of La Liga giants but twice walked out on them as he took a break from football.
