Kylian Mbappe has broken his silence on Karim Benzema's suggestion that he betrayed him after he turned down a sensational summer transfer to Real Madrid.

Mbappe was on the verge of making a summer move to Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer before he made a u-turn to commit his future to Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Metro UK, the France international is understood to have extended his deal with PSG until 2025, all but ending Real Madrid's hopes of securing his services.

Mbappe's decision was met with anger and frustration from a majority of Real Madrid fans, who took to social media to accuse the Frenchman of betrayal.

Benzema's social media activity in the wake of the transfer saga also appeared to suggest that he felt betrayed by Mbappe after his U-turn.

The Real Madrid attacker posted an image of his hand pointing at the Madrid badge on his Instagram and another of Tupac shaking hands with actor Stephen Baldwin who is believed to have betrayed the rapper before he was shot and killed.

Mbappe responds to Benzema's suggestion that he betrayed him

Mbappe has now broken his silence on Benzema's Instagram posts which had connotations of betrayal claims.

The PSG ace played down Benzema's dig, revealing that he will be explaining to him why he rejected a move to Real Madrid.

"Yes, yes, and I saw several Real Madrid players publishing things. I have nothing to say," Mbappe told Marca.

"Of course, when I go to the French national team, I will explain to Karim why I stayed at PSG because we have a good relationship," he added.
