Naymar Jr was the highest bidder for the AFCON 2021 final ball at an auction held by Paris Saint Germain midfielder Iddriss Gueye.

The Brazilian star, who joined his other teammates, including Kylian Mbappe, paid an amount of €160,000 for the ball used during the Africa Cup of Nations final between Senegal and Egypt.

The money from the auction will be used for charitable purposes, including funding the care of HIV and cancer inflicted children in Africa.

The lavish event also saw several footballing stars attend to support Idrissa Gueye's mission of helping children in Africa.

The AFCON final ball was signed by all Senegal players following their success in Cameroon early this year.

At the auction, there were autographed jerseys of players such Marco Verratti, Keylor Navas and Karim Benzema of Real Madrid, which were also on sale.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the government of Senegal, led by President Macky Sall, has rewarded each national football team member cash prizes and plots of land following their win in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Senegal defeated Egypt on penalties to be crowned champions of Africa for the first time in their history, which triggered triumphant commemoration across the streets of Dakar on Sunday, February 6.

In view of this, the president deemed it necessary to reward the players as a way of motivating them for their sacrifice, determination and hard work throughout the tournament.

Thousands storm streets of Dakar to meet Senegal players after AFCON triumph

There were thousands of football fans on the streets of Dakar on Monday evening, February 7, when the Senegalese national team players arrived after winning the 2021 AFCON title.

Sadio Mane and his teammates at the Senegalese national team fought well at the just concluded 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon where they defeated Egypt in the final.

The final encounter against the Egyptian national team was not an easy ride for Senegalese players as Mohamed Salah and his teammates also wanted to win the title.
