Neymar cost a staggering £197million when he signed for Barcelona in 2017.

And in his five seasons, PSG have had to pay out around £417million in costs related to his astronomical salary.

But in Doha, the Qataris are not convinced they have had value for money in their investment.

As a marketing tool, though, Neymar is still king. With the upcoming World Cup to be held in Qatar - PSG, who have links to Qatar National Bank and Qatar Airways, want to keep hold of their main attraction.

How much does Neymar earn at PSG?

Meanwhile, Brazilian superstar Neymar has been named the highest-paid footballer at Paris-Saint Germain, French newspaper L'Equipe has announced.

The 30-year-old joined the Parc de Princess side on an astronomical £198m from Barcelona in 2017, becoming the most expensive footballer in the World.

He still remains French Ligue 1's top earner, earning a monthly salary of £3.4million before tax. This equates to a yearly gross salary of just under £41m per year.

Followed on the second spot is Lionel Messi, who also joined PSG from Barcelona last year on a free transfer.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, who was once the highest-paid footballer in the world, now pockets £34m yearly at the Ligue 1 leaders.

PSG fans boo Sergio Ramos

Sports Brief earlier reported that Sergio Ramos felt the sting of the Paris Saint-Germain supporters for the first time in his first appearance in over two months.

Ramos has had a slow start to life in Paris as the Spanish defender was only making his 6th appearance for PSG since a summer move from Real Madrid.

The 36-year-old has been plagued by injuries that have made him miss several key games for PSG, much to the frustration of the Paris Saint-Germain supporters.
