  • Two weekends ago, Monnapule Saleng announced himself to South African football in the most spectacular way
  • The Orlando Pirates midfielder absolutely demolished Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of the MTN8 semifinal in Polokwane
  • His second goal in the 3-0 demolition job was scintillating, illustrated by the goosebump-inducing commentary

Sometimes, commentary can enhance amazing sequences of play on a sports field for the viewers at home.

There was another instance of this fact when Orlando Pirates destroyed Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 in the second leg of the MTN8 recently. SABC Sport's SeTswana commentator Oatile Jacobs was on hand to wax lyrical as the electrifying Monnapule Saleng tore through the defending champions, before hammering the final nail into their coffin.

This was Saleng's second goal of the afternoon, having assisted for Kermit Erasmus' opener in the fifth minute in what proved to be a relatively comfortable victory for the Buccaneers at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

MTN8: Orlando Pirates charged for fans invading Peter Mokaba Stadium pitch after Mamelodi Sundowns match

Orlando Pirates is in trouble as far as the Premier Soccer League is concerned.

The league's overworked prosecutor Zola Majavu has chosen to charge the club, after thousands of its supporters invaded the Peter Mokaba Stadium pitch nearly three weeks ago, as reported by Sports Brief. These fans were celebrating their team's 3-0 victory over hosts Mamelodi Sundowns, booking their place in the MTN8 final.

Majavu's statement read:

"I can confirm that Orlando Pirates Football Club has been charged for spectator behaviour, arising from the pitch invasion from the semi-final match between Mamelodi and themselves."

This was the second instance of fans invading the pitch during the tournament. Kaizer Chiefs fell foul of the league after its supporters invaded the Danie Craven Stadium field, following a penalty shootout victory over Stellenbosch FC. Ironically, the league itself was also charged, as it was meant to look after security at the venue.
