Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Edelbert Dinha must have made Orlando Pirates simultaneously smile and shed a tear yesterday.

The ex-Zimbabwean international shared a photo of himself with the late, great Gift Leremi on his Twitter. Leremi, a month before his 23rd birthday, lost his life in a car accident in September 2007.

In another tweet, he added:

"He was a complete player, very strong on the ball, used both legs, smart, clever, could take on defenders, powerful shots from both legs. He could’ve played in Europe"

MSN reported that Leremi had an offer tabled for him by an unnamed Portugues club throughout 2007, but the deal could not cross the finish line for a variety of unfortunate reasons.

Dinha and Leremi were part of a swashbuckling Orlando Pirates team between 2002 and 2006. The former left for FC AK in 2006, while the latter departed the Buccaneers for Mamelodi Sundowns just weeks before his tragic passing.

"Vum Vum", as Leremi was known by adoring Pirates fans, represented the U-23 national side 21 times, before gaining four international caps with Bafana Bafana.
