Happy Jele's glittering stay at Orlando Pirates has come to an end.

The club announced the stalwart 35-year-old's departure in a brief statement on its website.

It read:

"After 16 amazing years with us, we bid farewell to our future Hall of Famer. Our central defender and Club Captain, who has reached the end of his contract, will be leaving the club. This marks the end of Happy Jele’s momentous career with us.

"Everyone at Orlando Pirates Football Club would like to express the enormous gratitude to Happy Jele and wish him the very best of luck for the future."

According to Transfermarkt, Jele made over 400 appearances for the club and won eight trophies during his time with the first team, also earning himself three international caps with Bafana Bafana. He was snapped up from Walter Stars at the age of 19 years back in 2006.

Kick Off reported that "Magents" was lined up for a managerial position within the club's set-up once he hung up his boots, whether he did so at Pirates or at another club. Sports Brief reported last week that Royal AM was considering swooping down on Jele should he leave the Buccaneers.

As reported on Sports Brief, the midfielder joined the Amakhosi as a free agent after his contract with AmaZulu FC ended. Sithebe was one of the many new faces brought into the club as the Glamour Boys look to end their title drought this season.

Chiefs last won the title back in 2015.
