The debate over who should coach Orlando Pirates continues to swirl around as former and current players have had their say.

Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids remain in charge of the team but have come under increasing amounts of pressure after another poor season in the DStv Premiership.

Pirates are currently in sixth position on 40 points and will not be able to reach the 50 point mark that they achieved last season. The only saving grace for the duo is Pirates’ participation in the CAF Confederation Cup. Pirates are one game away from making the final of the tournament.

Former Pirates striker Andries ‘Local is Lekker’ Sebola has now urged his ex-club to part ways with Ncikazi and Davids, KickOff reported.

"Those two must not be kept as head coaches because at Pirates we don’t want to be associated with being second best. Pirates must be for the best and that means being first and winning trophies,” Sebola said.

He added that Sundowns can’t keep dominating while Pirates just sit back and watch because of an issue with the coaches.

Sebola went on to add that Pirates should look for another coach from out of the country, but noted that he preferred Benni McCarthy if it were to be a local manager.

Soccer Laduma has reported, though, that a manager from out of the country is interested in the position.

Algeria’s Adel Amrouche has been offered to the club by his representatives. Amrouche was previously linked to the post before Ncikazi and Davids were appointed.

The former Algerian national team coach has also been linked with the vacant post at Kaizer Chiefs.

Amrouche is said to be keen to work in South Africa after taking up posts in the North, East, and Central parts of the continent.

Have Orlando Pirates co coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids done enough to stay on?

The divisive duo of Orlando Pirates co-coaches Fadlu Davids and Mandla Ncikazi won't go down wondering no matter what their future holds, Sports Brief earlier reported.

The duo have come under constant criticism during their time at in charge of the Buccaneers since Josef Zinnbauer called it quits after just one game into the current season back in August last year.

Though, as Kick Off reported, they have ticked all the important boxes during their time in charge. Pirates was never really in the running to win the DStv Premiership, considering how inconsistent the team has been during the campaign coupled with a relentless Mamelodi Sundowns to contend with.
