  • Red-hot Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile is on the verge of reaching a landmark that has not been touched for a long time in the Premiers Soccer League
  • The Namibian hitman is now on 18 goals in the DStv Premiership after his hat-trick in a 4-2 victory against Moroka Swallows last night
  • With six matches left in the season, he can become the first player since Siyabonga Nomvethe in the 2011/12 season to score 20 league goals

The red-hot Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile is on the verge of doing something no player in the Premier Soccer League has done in 10 years.

Last night's hat-trick against Moroka Swallows took the Namibian goal-poacher to 18 league goals this campaign. He has six matches to reach the now-magical 20-goal mark.

The last time a player did that was Siyabonga Nomvethe, who netted 20 times for Moroka Swallows in the 2011/12 Absa Premiership campaign. Since then, few players have come close, with four of these players - including Shalulile a few seasons ago - hitting 16 goals.

The record amount of single-season league goals scored since the advent of the Premier Soccer League in 1996 was Collin Mbesuma's 2004/05 Castle Premiership tally of 25.

The leading goalscorer is awarded the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot.
