  • Olympique Marseille's head coach Igor Tudor made some sound substitutions to help his side beat Nantes in Ligue 1 Round 3 action
  • Tudor introduced Dimitri Payet who turned the game on its head by creating a glorious chance that another substitute Chancel Mbemba scored
  • Marseille now lead the standings but could lose that spot should PSG make it three out of three wins tomorrow away to Lille

Dimitri Payet came off the bench to inspire Olympique Marseille to a 2-1 victory on Saturday evening at the Stade Velodrome.

Marseille were reduced to 10 men in the second half when Samuel Gigot was given a second yellow card. Minutes before Gigot's sending off, Chancel Mbemba had put Marseille ahead from a Payet's corner.

Gigot's red card resulted to a penalty for Nantes which Ludovic Blass converted to restore parity for Nantes.

The visitors were however not ahead for long as four minutes later, Nicolas Pallois attempted an awkward style of clearing his lines only to head the ball into his net to restore Marseille's lead.

Marseille now go top of the table with 7 points. PSG can retake the lead if they beat Lille tomorrow to maintain their perfect start to the season.

New signing Alexis Sanchez made a bright start to game for Marseille. He thought he was fouled inside the penalty area in the 7th minute but the officials did not see any offence.

Another former Arsenal player Nuno Tavares also extended his good recent form as he troubled the Nantes back line. He was however guilty of some erratic passes and spurning glorious opportunities.

Nantes remain without a win in the new season after drawing their first two games.
