Victor Osimhen is one of Europe's hottest strikers and the talk of the town in Italy.

The Nigerian striker has been leading Napoli's charge for their first Serie A title since 1990, scoring 19 goals and assisting a further three for his teammates in 20 league games to set his team 18 points clear of second-placed Inter Milan on the table.

He is also six ahead of second-placed Inter Milan striker, Lautaro Martinez on the goalscorers' chart and his exploits have attracted a show of love from Neapolitans.

Chef bakes Osimhen cake

An Italian pastry chef, Salvatore Mellone has taken the love for the Nigerian to another level by baking a cake to look like the head of the player, as reported by Daily Star.

The cake, glazed with brown icing, has hazelnuts spread on the top to emulate Osimhen's dyed hair and also has a replica of his protective mask placed on the front, as revealed in a video shared on Twitter by Kiss Kiss Napoli.

Mellone presented the cake to the former Lille striker as he was reporting for training at the club's facilities.

Fan dyes face like Osimhen

Sports Brief also reported on a young Napoli fan cosplaying to look like Osimhen. The kid painted his face brown and dyed his hair, all to resemble the Nigerian striker.

The gesture garnered mixed reactions. Some saw it as an expression of love for the striker, while others claimed it was racist and ultimately denigrating to the player.

Mancini defends young fan's cosplay

Sports Brief also reported on Italian manager, Roberto Mancini defending the young Napoli fan who cosplayed as Osimhen amid claims it was racially motivated.

The former Manchester City boss dismissed those who believed the gesture was racist in nature, saying all he saw in the boy's expression was love and wonder.

Mancini is the current manager of the Italian national team and led the team to glory at Euro 2020 but missed out on qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
