According to the report by Complete Sports, Osimhen has scored five goals for Napoli in the first month of 2023 alone.

What about Lookman?

Lookman, on the other hand, was also in stunning form to score five goals as well for Atalanta.

As things stand now in an interesting race, Osimhen is the leading scorer in Serie A with 14 goals, while his compatriot has registered 12 goals.

Speaking to Sports Brief on who he thinks should win the award, Nigerian sports reporter, Tunde Samsudeen stated Lookman deserved it.

''Victor and Lookman have been doing well this season in Italy and I'm sure all Nigerians are happy with their performances, even though I want Lookman to win the POTM for January.''

Lookman clears the air

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Lookman stating emphatically that his parents had nothing to do with his decision to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, instead of England's national team.

The Atalanta forward represented the Three Lions at the under-19, U20 and U21 levels, before he switched allegiance and started playing for the three-time African champions.

Lookman explained that choosing Nigeria over England was a big decision - one he had considered for a long time before eventually making up his mind.
