Former Juventus midfielder Raffaele Ametrano has named Nigerian star Victor Osimhen as the best striker presently in Italy stressing that he is impressed with his games.

The Super Eagles youngster has been commanding lots of respect since he moved to Napoli from Lille in 2022 and he keeps on getting the goals for the Blues.

Although, Osimhen struggled in his first season at Napoli due to injury, the Nigerian was still able to register 14 goals in 27 games.

This season in the Serie A, Osimhen has found the net ten times in 13 games despite being out with an injury for over a month.

He also became the first player to reach ten goals this term in Italy.

According to the report on Soccernet, Ametrano explained that Osimhen is a player who will continue shinning for Napoli and even the Super Eagles.

Statement made by Ametrano

“Napoli have the strongest center forward in our league, Victor Osimhen.
“He is a player who tires you to such an extent that you lose the decisive meter. Even in the game against Sampdoria, he showed his speed.''

Osimhen receives Globe Soccer award

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Nigerian international Victor Osimhen was presented with the prestigious Globe Soccer Award as the 'Power Horse Emerging Player of the Year'.

The Napoli striker was announced the winner of the prize last November, but was unable to receive his trophy in person in Dubai.

Osimhen edged out impressive Barcelona star, Gavi and Real Madrid’s sensational midfielder, Federico Valverde to the accolade.

The 24-year-old was recognised with the award, following his incredible displays for Napoli in the Italian Serie A in 2022.

Due to club engagements, he was unable to attend the gala night on November 17, 2022.
