President of the Cameroonian Football Federation, Samuel Eto'o, has finally responded to comments made by Napoli president about African players.

Napoli boss, Aurelio De Laurentiis says he will not be signing African players anymore unless they agree to boycott the Africa Cup of Nations.

His comments received massive criticisms, and Eto'o who has a player at Napoli insists the club cannot stop him from having his player for international tournaments.

"The World Cup is happening in November-December. This is football, they need to respect us," Eto'o told Tv3 when asked about Laurentiis' comments.

"It's somebody's opinion. In my opinion as federation president if my coach thinks he need a player in his team, we will do everything to bring and the player will just have to join," he added.

In a related interview on EIB Network, Samuel Eto'o added De Laurentiis went too far with his comments.

"I think the Napoli president went too far in his statement. But he has no choice because I have a player who plays in his team, Zambo Anguissa, and if Rigobert Song wants him he cannot stop him," Eto'o told Nana Aba Anamoah.

Samuel Eto'o has been in Ghana since Friday as an ambassador for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that legendary African footballer, Samuel Eto'o, is convinced an African team can win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Africa will be represented by Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, Tunisia and Senegal at the tournament in November and December.

The continent's best performance at the World Cup was when Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana reached the quarter finals in 1990, 2002 and 2010 respectively.
