  • Victor Osimhen was injured in November 2021 and was out of action for three months after he underwent surgery
  • The Nigerian international collided with Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar and suffered fractures to his cheekbones
  • Napoli doctor Roberto Ruggiero has stated that the forward will continue to wear the protective mask even though he is fully healed

The doctor at Italian club Napoli, Roberto Ruggiero, has stated that Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen will continue to wear a protective mask because it gives him a sense of security.

In November 2021, the striker suffered a facial injury after colliding with Milan Skriniar of Inter during a Serie A encounter.

Osimhen was forced to undergo surgery and was ruled out of action for about three months.

Ruggiero told Radio Marte via Tutto Napoli as per Complete Sports:

“Osimhen is perfectly healed, he’s still wearing the protective mask because it gives him a sense of security, but he’s healed.
“He has his own balance and wants to wear it. Hopefully, this mask will be enough until he feels safe and takes it off.
“Not before then, I still have to do a check, but as soon as he returns, we will have intense work to do.”

He scored 14 goals and provided two assists in 27 league appearances for Napoli last season.

Osimhen returns to Napoli training

Meanwhile, Osimhen has returned to Napoli training after being ordered to take a shower while complaining about a teammate.

Reports emerged from Naples that the Nigerian international had a faceoff with a teammate during a training session at their Castel di Sangro camp.

It was gathered that the unreserved complaints by the former Lille of France man prompted Spalletti to send him out of the training session, but he has returned for preseason activities.

Osimhen spotted with Onyekuru, Balotelli

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles duo Victor Osimhen and Henry Onyekuru spent a heartwarming moment together after a pre-season friendly between SSC Napoli and Adana Demirspor.

Balotelli, who featured for Adana Demirspor, netted the opener for his side as they held Napoli to a 2-2 draw at the Stadio Teofili Pantini.

In a video posted on social media, spotted by Sports Brief, the three players were seen hanging out together as they shared their excitement about meeting each other.
