Victor Osimhen has spoken for the first time after Napoli were surprisingly beaten on their home turf by Fiorentina in the Italian Serie A on Sunday, April 10.

The Super Eagles forward registered his 12th league goal for the Partenopei but it was not enough to prevent Napoli from their 5th home loss in the Serie A.

According to a report via Soccernet, Osimhen described the loss to Fiorentina as a hurtful one but also disclosed their hopes will not be dashed.

The 23-year-old sent a motivational message to Napoli fans via Twitter not to give up on the team’s chances of winning the Scudetto despite the setback against Napoli.

Napoli remains in the third spot on the Italian Serie A standings, 2 points off leaders AC Milan and are tied with Inter Milan in second but have played a game more than the defending champions.

Spalletti laments costful defeat to Fiorentina

Meanwhile, Napoli manager, Luciano Spalletti has described the loss to Fiorentina on Sunday, April 10 as a costly one.

According to Goal, Spalletti suggested the loss was undeserved because Napoli started the game stronger compared to Fiorentina but allowed their opponents to take charge of the game.

The 63-year-old manager admitted the players and coaches of Napoli will have to take the blame for the loss while expressing his sympathy for the fans.

Osimhen scores, makes assist as Napoli loses at home

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen was on the score sheet in Napoli’s 2-3 loss at home to Fiorentina in the Italian Serie A.

It was his first goal against the top Italian teams referred to as seven sisters comprising Inter, AC Milan, Juventus, Lazio, Fiorentina, AS Roma, and Napoli.

Nico Gonzalez scored Fiorentina’s first goal in the first half as the Partenopei struggled to contain their opposition.
