"As with their sad habits, some bergamaschi supporters, from Atalanta de Bergamo, have again repeated their human nonsense by uttering despicable and racist insults aimed at our captain and leader Kalidou Koulibaly," wrote the Senegalese Football Federation.
"These brainless idiots have no place in a stadium. Force yourselves Kalidou, the Senegalese people support you wholeheartedly and stand as one man to be proud of your courage, your bravery, your exemplarity and your belonging to our race and our country," continued the federation.

The Federation then showed support to Koulibaly as he stood firm in the face of abuse.

"Captain courage, they will never reach you. You yourself said it during the reception at the Palace of the Republic after our victory at the CAN: "We are killed but we are not dishonored". Senegal and Africa are proud of you.
"You are the intractable defender of our color, our identity and our culture. That's why you're the most beautiful and the strongest."

Khalidou Koulibaly led Senegal to their first ever AFCON success earlier this year after the Teranga Lions defeated Egypt on penalties in Cameroon.
