Gallants opened the scoring via a penalty from Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo in the 20th minute after Happy Jele committed a foul in the box. That lead last only about 10 minutes, as the red-hot Bandile Shandu equalised in the 30th minute.

This was to be the last goal as both teams huffed and puffed for the next 90 minutes to no avail.

The penalty shootout was a fair way to break the tie, with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa managing the pressure cooker to advance to the next round of the competition.

This was their fifth consecutive win of the year since returning from the December-January break.

Buccaneers co-coaches Fadlu Davids and Mandla Ncikazi are now undeniably in the firing line as the team's poor continues with no sign of letting up.

Nedbank Cup: A scintillating 6 for Mamelodi Sundowns, Masandawana could not be tied down by Mathaithai FC

Mamelodi Sundowns brushed aside Mathaithai FC, 6-0, but the score could have been much higher had Sundowns taken their chances.

In a game that Sports Brief monitored, Sundowns started on the front foot from the first minute, as they scored in the second minute of the game.

Aubrey Modiba sprinted down the right flank and got a cross into the box which Surprise Ralani got onto the end off.
