Barcelona require just two more wins to be crowned La Liga champions after a controlled 2-0 victory over Getafe on Friday, 25 April 2026, capitalised on Real Madrid’s earlier draw against Real Betis in the same matchweek.

Heading into the fixture at the Coliseum Stadium, Hansi Flick’s side had not lost in their previous eight league outings. The result extended that unbeaten run and moved the Catalan club 11 points ahead of Madrid in the standings, with five matches still to play across the division.

Flick was forced into selection adjustments ahead of kick-off, with both Lamine Yamal and Raphinha sidelined through injury. Despite those absences, Barcelona controlled large portions of the first half through superior possession and sustained attacking pressure, though Getafe’s defence remained organised early on and kept the scoreline level.

The deadlock was broken just before half-time. In the 45th minute, Pedri released Fermín inside the penalty area and the midfielder converted with a composed finish into the bottom right corner to give Barcelona the lead at the break.

Marcus Rashford, the Manchester United loanee who joined Barcelona earlier in the season, added the second goal in the second half. The English forward finished from close range following a swift counterattack, doubling the advantage and effectively ending Getafe’s hopes of a comeback.

From that point, Barcelona managed the game efficiently, retaining possession to limit the host’s opportunities and see out a comfortable win. The victory consolidates their position at the top of the La Liga table as the title race enters its final stretch.

Rashford’s contribution continues to draw attention given the circumstances of his loan move to the Camp Nou side. The forward has found regular involvement under Flick at a time when his long-term future at Manchester United remains uncertain, with his contract situation at Old Trafford still unresolved according to reports.

For Barcelona, securing the La Liga title this season would represent a significant domestic achievement, particularly given the injury disruptions they have navigated. Yamal, widely regarded as one of the most influential players in European football this campaign, had been central to their form before his season-ending injury, as Pulse Sports previously reported.

Real Madrid’s failure to win on Friday handed Barcelona a favourable window, and Flick’s squad took full advantage. With the gap now at 11 points and two wins required from the remaining five fixtures, the mathematics are firmly in Barcelona’s favour as they push to wrap up the title in the coming weeks.
