  • Ralf Rangnick will not welcome all the drama linking Frenchman Paul Pogba away from English club Manchester United
  • The midfielder’s current contract with the Red Devils will lapse at the end of the season and he is yet to renew
  • According to Rangnick, no player is bigger than the club; and as a manager, he will not attempt to beg the player to stay

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has disclosed that although Paul Pogba could be a major part of his squad, he would however not attempt to convince the Frenchman to stay at the Old Trafford club.

Pogba has been linked away from the Premier League club in recent times as his deal expires at the end of the season.

According to the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, there are many offers for the player who can agree a new deal with a new club as from January 1.

The midfielder is currently out injured, and new Manchester United interim boss Rangnick has disclosed that the club is so big that there is no place for a player who does not want to be there.

Rangnick said via Mirror:

“I wouldn’t say he is not worth keeping but players need to want to stay and play for the club. If a player doesn’t want to play for a club like Manchester United, even in the long term, I don’t think it makes sense to convince him to change his mind.
“I have to get to know him. I have to speak to him. It is about being fully physically fit. The way we want to play is high intensity. It will take some time for him to get fully fit. Once he is fully fit, I see him as a midfielder rather than a striker or a left winger.
“The only thing of interest to me is how do we get him fully fit. He can be an important player, I am fully aware of that. But that is true for all the players. I am not only the coach of Paul Pogba. I am also the coach of all the other players.”

Manchester United eye Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn

As far as transfer rumours, Rangnick looks prepared to bolster his squad in January and has identified Aston Villa’s John McGinn as a target.

The United interim manager is prepared to splash £50million on the Scot to reinvigorate his midfield.

It was gathered that the Old Trafford club will do business as soon as the transfer window opens next month as Rangnick is desperate in reshaping his squad.
