- His arrival comes at a time the Red Devils have been enduring a difficult run of form in the Premier League
Man United have officially confirmed Ralf Rangnick as the new manager.
The German tactician is set to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was recently sacked following a string of poor results.
Solskjaer was shown the door on the eve of United's 4-1 humiliating defeat in the hands of Watford.
Michael Carrick was subsequently named the caretaker manager pending the appointment of a substantive replacement.
And after leading the Red Devils in two outings, Carrick has been replaced with Rangnick who is set to take charge of the Red Devils until the end of the season.
Man United's statement:
"Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager until the end of the season, subject to work visa requirements," the club said in a statement confirming the appointment.
"Following this period, Ralf and the club have agreed that he will continue in a consultancy role for a further two years," United added.
Rangnick's immediate assignment will be to lead United back to the top four as he hopes to win at least one title.
The Old Trafford dwellers are still firmly in contention in two competitions including the Champions League and the FA Cup.
The Manchester club are already through to the knockout round of the Champions League, earning their ticket with a game to spare.
