- The Champions League draw for the Round of 16 is set to take place on Monday, December 13
- All the four Premier League teams are set to participate after they sealed a spot in the knockouts
- Chelsea are likely to earn a trickier tie following their second-place finish in Group H
The Premier League will be having four representatives in the Round of 16 of the Champions League this season after Man United, City, Liverpool, and Chelsea all booked their places in the knockout round.
Three of the clubs from the division qualified for the last 16 as group winners, with Chelsea the only side to sail through as runners-up.
The Blues squandered a glorious chance to finish as Group H winners after settling for a nervy 3-3 draw with Zenit St. Petersburg in match week six played on Wednesday, December 8.
The final round of fixtures saw Atletico Madrid ensure their progression, with Barcelona, shockingly getting eliminated after their 3-0 defeat at Bayern Munich.
Be that as it may, there is one more tie pitting Atalanta and Villarreal that is yet to be resolved after it was postponed to Thursday, December 9.
But with everything pretty much sorted, TUKO.co.ke takes a look at who each of the EPL teams could face:
Having finished as Group A winners, Man City have a chance of drawing a relatively easier opponent in the last 16.
City can draw Atletico Madrid, Sporting CP, Inter Milan, Benfica, RB Salzburg, or whoever wins between Atalanta and Villarreal.
The Reds became the first English side to win all their group stage matches.
They will be looking to replicate their form in the next rounds with the hope of winning the title.
Inter are among the teams they could face in the round of 16 along with PSG, Sporting CP, Benfica, Atalanta/Villarreal, and RB Salzburg.
Man United confirmed their place in the next round with a game to spare to finish as Group F winners.
Unlike Man City and Liverpool, the Atalanta vs Villarreal clash does not impact United as two teams from the same group cannot meet in the last 16.
This leaves PSG, Atletico Madrid, Sporting CP, Inter Milan, Benfica, or Salzburg as their possible opponents.
The Blues' second-place finish could see them possibly draw tough opponents in the knockout round.
The West Londoners cannot face group opponents Juventus again, and cannot draw EPL opponents at this stage.
As such, their four potential opponents could be Bayern Munich, Ajax, Lille, or Real Madrid.
Rio makes UCL prediction
Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported Man United legend Rio Ferdinand has made his prediction on who could win this season's Champions League.
According to Rio, Man City, Liverpool, and defending champions Chelsea are the three teams who have a chance of being crowned champions.
The former England international also claimed Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich stand an outside chance.
