Eric Bailly's own goal in the early exchanges of the clash and Bernardo Silva's strike on the stroke of halftime were enough to humble United against their arch-rivals.

The loss saw Solskjaer come under immense scrutiny once again, with a section of fans calling for his immediate dismissal.

The calls were renewed just two weeks after the Norwegian led the Red Devils to a 5-0 drubbing by Liverpool before turning around his side's form against Tottenham and Atalanta.

Mirror UK reports the full-time whistle during the City encounter was greeted with boos and jeers from United's disgruntled fan base who were clearly unimpressed by their side's performance.

But when asked if the City result could be the final nail on his coffin, Solskjaer remained defiant in his post-match interview, insisting he is still the right man for the Old Trafford job.

The Norwegian divulged he is in constant touch with United chiefs, underscoring his desire to turn around the club's fortunes.

"I have good communication with the club. I want the best for United and as long as I'm here I want to do everything I can to improve this,” he said.
"We've been through this a few times and since the last home game it's been a very difficult period. Systems or style we need to be on the front foot more. I can't look at myself and say this is how I want United to be," he added.

Meanwhile, the Saturday, November 6, result leaves United in fifth with 17 points but in danger of dropping further down depending on the outcome of results from the teams below them.

Bruno slams United defense

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported Bruno Fernandes has appeared to shoulder blame on Man United's defense following their defeat to Man City.

Reacting to the loss, Fernandes took issue with United's defence to conceding "easy goals" as he hailed David de Gea for making incredible saves that kept them in the game.

“It’s always a bad time to concede a goal but the problem is the way we concede goals. It’s too easy. As I said, many, many times, if not for David, the result could be much higher and worse for us," Bruno said.
