With Ralf Rangnick set to take up Manchester United job temporarily, comments by the manager over Cristiano Ronaldo has now been made public, SPORTbible reports.

It was gathered that following the tactician’s earlier comments about the player, Ronaldo might have little chance at the Old Trafford.

Rangnick is billed to be in charge of the Red Devils until the end of the season following the sacking of Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It was gathered that the tactician is famous for his clear philosophy on how he intends to play, which could spell disaster for Cristiano.

When asked if he would sign Ronaldo or rival Lionel Messi back in 2016, Rangnick replied:

"It would be absurd to think that it could work with them here [Leipzig].
"They are both too old and too expensive."

Since those comments were made, Ronaldo has won the Champions League three times with Real Madrid and moved on to Juventus and United respectively.

Messi, meanwhile, carried Barcelona for a number of years before his shock transfer to Paris Saint-Germain during the summer.

Man Utd stars not impressed with Rangnick’s imminent arrival

Meanwhile, reports have it that a number of Manchester United players were not impressed with how Ralf Rangnick was appointed by the club.

The 63-year-old German tactician will now take over at the club until the end of the season following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Quite a number of the squad members were left unhappy with the lack of information about the decision from the club.

It seems the news of Rangnick’s appointment came to many as a shock as they were not aware of the situation at the Old Trafford.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reacted to the imminent arrival of Ralf Rangnick who is widely reported to become the Manchester United manager, temporarily.

Rangnick became famous as the manager and sporting director where he developed German outfit RB Leipzig into the European force they are today. Klopp said:

"Unfortunately a good coach is coming to England, to Manchester United! That's how it is. He built two clubs from nowhere to proper threats in Germany in Hoffenheim and Leipzig. His first concern is being a coach and that's his skill.”
