- Messi who won the Copa America with Argentina is now on the verge of landing seventh Ballon d'Or award
With 48 hours to the 2021 Ballon d'Or gala night, Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain has been reportedly named as the winner of the prestigious award beating the likes of Benzema and Robert Lewandowski.
In the first half of the year 2021, Lionel Messi was in great form for Barcelona and also his national team helping Argentina to win the Copa America where they defeated Brazil in the final.
The Copa America win for Argentina was also the first title Lionel Messi has won with the national team after failure in previous attempts to land a crown.
Since joining Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer from Barcelona, Lionel Messi has not been that impressive in which many have ruled him out in the race for the Ballon d'Or.
According to the report on UK Sun, it has been claimed that Lionel Messi's close friends are already aware that the Argentine will be winning his seventh Ballon d'Or award.
Who are Lionel Messi's strong challengers?
Lewandowski was the favourite to win the Ballon d'Or last year, before he was cruelly robbed of the opportunity by France Football cancelling the award in the wake of Coronavirus.
This season, the Bayern Munich striker has also been impressive in all competition with Real Madrid man Karim Benzema also firing in all cylinders.
