Man United have been dealt a huge injury blow in Paul Pogba with the midfielder set to be sidelined for weeks with a thigh injury.

Pogba has played a central role in United's title charge this season, having broke into the first team after previous struggles during the start of the season.

The Frenchman formed part of the Red Devils' starting squad that drew 3-3 against Everton on Saturday, February 6, at Old Trafford.

However, he had to withdraw midway through the first half of the encounter after he picked up the injury, with Brazilian midfielder Fred taking his place.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would later reveal the World Cup-winning star was set for scans to establish the severity of the injury.

It was gathered that after further examination, Pogba will now be out of action for weeks which will see him miss a couple of matches including United's FA Cup fifth round meeting with West Ham scheduled for Tuesday night, February 9.

The former Juventus star will also play no role in his side's first leg meeting against Real Sociedad in the round of 32 of Europa League.

Speaking on the development, Solskjaer underscored the midfielder's importance in his squad in recent weeks, revealing the player has already begun his road to recovery. Solskjaer said:

"It’s an injury that will take a few weeks to heal. Of course, Paul has been very important for us and we’re not going to take any risks.

"(So it is) A few weeks definitely. You never want to be injured and, especially, now Paul was really finding his form and enjoying his football," he added.
