Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has made it clear that France international Paul Pogba will prove his quality and advance his skills if he ends up staying at Old Trafford this summer.

Pogba has been linked with a move away from United after the end of 2018/19 Premier League season with Real Madrid and Juventus interested in signing the 26-year-old.

The Frenchman publicly stated that it will be a dream come true for any footballer to be signed by Real Madrid where he will have the chance to play under Zidane.

And Wayne Rooney who won two trophies with Pogba at United before he left has said the Frenchman will remain an asset for the Red Devils if he remains.

"It's obviously down to the club, to the board, to the manager, but I think also to the player.

"If the player wants to stay, he'll stay and prove what a good player he is.

"Behind the scenes, I'm sure they're working on whether to keep him or whether to let him go,'' Rooney told ESPN.
