  • Marcus Rashford decided against joining PSG at the end of an underwhelming season in England
  • He has since regained his top form under Erik ten Hag, even as his contract status comes into question
  • Manchester United will seek to tie down the striker to a new deal, with the Parisians' interest still fresh

Paris Saint-Germain reportedly initiated contact with Marcus Rashford's representatives last summer in a bid to lure him to France.

Rashford was in the midst of a very disappointing season which coincided with Manchester United's overall lethargic season. He ended up scoring only five goals in all competitions in that term.

PSG president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi has been vocal before about his interest in the 25-year-old and as he enters the final year of his contract next season, questions will arise again in what is expected to be the most important deal of his career.

Manchester United head coach, Erik ten Hag has reiterated that the club is working behind the scenes to tie down arguably their most prized asset to a new deal.

Rashford rejected PSG

Last year, during PSG's overtures, the Atheltic reports that the English international was offered as much as 400,000 euros per week to ditch United.

Rashford is said to have turned down the prospect of linking up with Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappe in a star-studded squad, plus the hefty paycheck to stay put at Old Trafford.

He was determined to right the wrongs of the previous seasons and boy, how right was he. After the World Cup, the forward hit a different gear. He is currently the most in-form player in the world.

Rashford is believed to be currently on a weekly wage of 200,000 euros.

His new contract will revolve around how much he wants and how United can balance its books with other high earners like David de Gea, Raphael Varane, and Casemiro, but it feels like common sense he will be handed a hefty pay rise going by his latest performances.

Phil Jones praises Rashford

Sports Brief has also reported on Phil Jones, a member of Jose Mourinho's winning squad, lavishing praise on Rashford.

Jones, who is still a member of the Red Devils, called the 25-year-old the best player in the world based on his current form.

The footballer was at the stadium yesterday as a pundit and identified the key areas where Rashford has improved.
