  • Victor Osimhen continues to score for free in Italy and has been linked with a move away from Napoli
  • Premier League giants Manchester United are said to be keen on signing the Nigerian striker
  • Fans are not convinced a mega move to Old Trafford would be a good idea for the goal-hungry star

Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe with Manchester United said to be closely monitoring the situation.

The 24-year-old forward has made public his desire to feature in the Premier League and he has been heavily linked with a move to the Old Trafford outfit.

However, Napoli have since slapped a staggering €150 million price tag on the striker, a figure which makes signing him a difficult prospect.

Only a very few clubs could cough up such a huge amount to sign one player. Before that possibility, many are urging the Super Eagles striker not to move to the Theatre of Dreams.

Sports Brief has listed four reasons why Osimhen should turn down a move to Man United:

1. The club has small dreams

Gone are the days when Manchester United were synonymous with titles. During the era of Alex Ferguson, one could be certain the Red Devils would win something at the end of each season.

It is already a decade since the Red Devils last won the Premier League and they last won the FA Cup in the 2015/2016 season. The last time they won the UEFA Champions League was the 2007/2008 season.

Although Man United claimed the Carabao Cup, this is a far cry from the Red Devils of old. At 24, Osimhen needs a club where he is sure of at least a title at the end of the season and the English side simply are not that club.

2. Manchester United are struggling

Although Erik ten Hag has done a lot to improve the side, Man United are still a shadow of their former selves. In fact, the recent 7-0 loss to Liverpool shows a lot is still wrong with the squad.

It was 1-0 at half-time at Anfield, but for United to concede six second-half goals means there is a major problem. They have lost six matches already this season and a possible overhaul could be needed.

3. United has outdated stadium facilities

Cristiano Ronaldo exposed the club in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan. The Portuguese striker, who returned to the club after 12 years, expressed disappointment at the club’s training facilities.

Former player, Gary Neville also added as per Manchester Evening News:

“Manchester United need a billion pounds in the next two-three years to either rebuild or renovate that stadium. They probably need another £500-£600m on a training ground and other infrastructure projects and football investment."

Neville further claimed the club only had £40 to £50 million in the bank.

“...They were cash rich three years ago when they had £350 mil in the bank but they’ve no longer got that. Something is going to have to give.”

4. Osimhen, Napoli need each other

The Nigerian international will surely lead the Partenopei to the Scudetto this season as Napoli look in good place to win the title again after more than three decades.

The Naples outfit are doing well in the domestic league and in the Champions League and appear certain to claim at least one title this season.

The future also looks bright for the club as Luciano Spalletti seems to be bringing out the very best in the Nigerian striker.

Osimhen names his idol

Sports Brief also reported on Osimhen naming his football idol, revealing he grew up learning lots from watching Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba in action.

During his playing days, the Ivorian was rated as one of the best strikers in the world and scored many times for both his club and his country.

Osimhen explained he used to watch Drogba's games closely to pick up tips and techniques, adding these had helped him shape his own game.
