  • Manchester United were wiped 7-0 by their fiercest rivals Liverpool at Anfield
  • The loss dealt a big blow to United's title chances as the dark horse in the Premier League race
  • Marcus Rashford has broken his silence and sent an eager message to the fans

Manchester United had a Sunday to forget after they were humiliated 7-0 by their fiercest rival Liverpool in the biggest game on the English calendar at Anfield.

The Reds halted the Red Devils' impressive run, which culminated in eliminating Barcelona from the UEFA Europa League and beating Newcastle United to win the Carabao Cup.

Marcus Rashford has been central to everything the club has achieved this season, stepping up as an attacking force for Erik Ten Hag, but could not help to prevent the embarrassment against Liverpool.

He played only 85 minutes of the devastating loss before he was substituted and replaced by fellow academy graduate Anthony Elanga.

He has now broken his silence in a tweet with an eagerness to go again and make the results right and also urged the fans to trust the process.

''I wish we could play a game today to try and put things right. The result is the result, and we can’t see past that! We must not let it define our season. We have to trust the process and stick together,'' he wrote on Twitter.

He was well-received by most fans in the comments section, who told him to hold his head up high and bounce back.

De Gea appeals to fans

Sports Brief earlier reported that goalkeeper David De Gea appealed to United fans after what he called a disastrous defeat to their rivals Liverpool.

In line with Rashford's message, he also urged the fans to stick by them while they look ahead to coming games and focus on it and turn things around as soon as possible.

The loss was also a bitter pill to swallow for United boss Erik Ten Hag who said there have to be conversations around the loss, which is unacceptable.
