  • A report of Manchester United receiving loan offers for Mason Greenwood has generated a different topic
  • A loan move would require Greenwood to move to a club in a country whose transfer window is open
  • Manchester United are still conducting its internal investigations to determine the next course of action to take

Mason Greenwood's return to professional football remains shrouded in uncertainty, with Manchester United yet to provide a way forward.

Greenwod's sexual assault charges were dropped last month. He was suspended by the club last year after his charges found their way into the public domain.

After his charges were dropped, Manchester United indicated that they would conduct their own internal investigations before coming up with a solution.

The Greenwood subject is proving to be a very delicate subject to handle, with reported concerns among both the men's and women's squads.

Still a United player

The problem for the Red Devils is that the 21-year-old is still contracted by the club until 2025. He is on a weekly wage of 75,000 euros. Metro UK reports that Manchester United recently received loan offers from Turkey for the striker.

One of Manchester United's fan pages has listed the probable options for Greenwood if United clear him in time this season.

With all the transfer windows of all the major European leagues currently closed, Greenwood would have to settle for 'less fancy' leagues elsewhere whose windows don't conform to the European calendar.

Countries Greenwood could go to

If United were to terminate his contract, he could easily join any club as a free agent. But a loan deal would require the transfer window to open in that country.

Leagues in Asian countries like South Korea and Japan, are still open for at least three more weeks. Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds will be competing in the Asian Champions League final against Al-Hilal on April 29th.

Nigeria, Benin and Ethiopia are the African countries whose transfer windows are also still open. He could also join clubs in Moldova, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Tajistikan.

However, it is understood that Manchester United will be in no apparent rush to conclude its internal investigations. Greenwood is said to have made peace with the fact that he won't play this season.

Greenwood meets United bosses

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Greenwood reportedly held the first meeting with Manchester United bosses. This is the first meeting the striker has had since his sexual assault charges were dropped at the start of the month.

The dropping of his charges by the Crown Prosecution Services paved the way for a potential return to professional football.

He is still contracted by Manchester United until 2025, with the club deciding to take precautionary steps in what can be a very tricky situation.
