  • Manchester United owners have put the club up for sale and are looking to end their 17 years of ownership
  • They are looking at a partial or total sale with a deadline of February 17 set for interested parties
  • One of the interested bidders is not fancied by fans as they are not convinced of his operating model

Manchester United owners, the Glazers family, have put the club up for sale after over seventeen years of ownership, which has witnessed extreme highs and lows in the club's fortunes.

The announcement was made last year shortly after the termination of Cristiano Ronaldo's contract following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan, that slammed the Glazers for not caring about the club.

The modality for sale remains unclear. The initial statement by the owners claims they will explore a complete sale or a partial investment, with the latter said to be more attractive to the Glazers.

According to Sky Sports, he is preparing a bid of £4.5bn for Manchester United, which he believes will be enough to convince the Glazers to sell to him despite being below their £6bn valuation of the club.

Fans' reaction to Musk's interest

The reports of Musk's interest in the club were met with varying reactions from the fans of the club. Many claim the story is false, as he was also linked to Chelsea last year, while others are not convinced how he would run the club.

Hamilton interested in Man Utd

Sports Brief earlier reported that F1 driver Lewis Hamilton is interested in Manchester United and wants to team up with a long-term admirer of the club Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ratcliffe is the UK's richest man with a net worth of £16bn and currently owns French club OGC Nice, while Lewis Hamilton is worth just over £200m.

The seven-time world champion also teamed up with Sir Martin Broughton in an unsuccessful attempt to buy Chelsea, which was sold to Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
