Daniel James' dream move to Manchester United this summer could be delayed for a little longer following the tragic death of his father.

The winger is on the verge of sealing a dream move to Old Trafford from Swansea after agreeing personal terms with the Red Devils.

The Welsh star was set to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first signing of the transfer window, but the move has to be put on hold.

According to UK Metro citing The Daily Mail, United will now give James the time and space he needs to grieve the loss of his father.

Swansea confirmed the sad news in a statement on Thursday, May 23, sending a message of condolences to the Wales international and his family.

"Everyone at Swansea City has been saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Daniel James' father," Swansea said in a statement.
"Everyone at the football club send their condolences and our thoughts are with Daniel and his family at this sad time," the club added.

TUKO.co.ke earlier reported United are close to landing the services of James in a £15 million deal this summer.

The 21-year-old Welshman is said to have agreed personal terms with the Red Devils who are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

The 21-year-old almost joined Leeds in the winter window but a stunning mobile malfunction saw the deal collapse.

The attacking midfielder scored four times and assisted seven other goals in 33 Championship games for Swansea last term.
