A young Manchester United fan could not help but break down in tears after meeting his hero Lisandro Martinez.

Since signing from Ajax for £56 million in the summer, Martinez has quickly integrated into the Manchester United team.

Currently, he is among the fan favourites at Old Trafford thanks to some solid performances in defence which have been crucial for United as they compete in four different competitions.

It seems even the young fans are well aware of the value Martinez has brought to Old Trafford, and this was evident in a video recently shared on social media.

As reported on SportBible, Martinez delighted some young fans on Saturday evening after the FA Cup triumph over Reading; a game where he was an unused substitute.

Two eager fans are hopeful to have their shirts signed, and Martinez exhibited some class by actually stopping and fulfilling the fans’ wishes.

Soon after they received their signed shirt, the two children, a boy and a girl, could barely contain their emotions as they broke down in tears in what was truly a wholesome moment.

Despite not featuring against Reading, Martinez will likely be selected in United’s next game which will be in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

Maguire vows to fight for place in starting XI

Sports Brief also reported on Harry Maguire's determination to fight for his place in Manchester United's starting XI after being relegated to the bench in recent weeks.

Maguire was a started in the 3-1 win over Reading on Saturday, and put up a masterful performance in defence alongside Victor Lindelof.

He admitted after the game that it was not ideal to be left on the bench but was at the same time determined to show Ten Hag what he is capable of.
