  • Sancho has not hit the height that made the club spend £73m on him from Borussia Dortmund

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is nearing return to action after weeks of a special recovery programme and individual training at the club's training complex at Carrington.

The 22-year old has endured a difficult time in Manchester since his blockbuster move from German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund for £73m in the summer transfer window of 2021.

United boss Erik Ten Hag has thrown fans into wild celebration after dropping a hint he could return to action in the FA Cup fourth round match against Reading.

Earlier this year, the Manchester United boss could not give a specific return date for the winger when quizzed by journalists, as reported by Reuters.

United face Reading at Old Trafford in the FA Cup, and speaking ahead of the match as quoted by Express, the Dutch tactician claimed Sancho has stepped up in training and could be back in action tomorrow.

''[Sancho] is training with the team, so we will see. He's improving. He's making steps, and we will make the decision [on if he faces Reading] after training,'' he said.

As reported by Mirror UK, his last game was the 1-1 draw against Chelsea in October and he looks set to return to action in about three months, news which has sent the fans into celebratory mood.

Fans react to Sancho's return

The Red Devils fans are welcoming the prospect of having their beloved winger back in the midst of their ongoing good form, which many claim will boost their options and help Rashford.

United need him, even if it's just as a backup for Antony. Elanga/Pellistri can't be your best right winger on the bench.

''The prospect of Sancho finding form and coming back as the guy that ripped it the Bundesliga is one to be excited about. ETH seems to once again be man-managing this in the perfect way. This could be the start of something very special. Deadass!''

Antony struggling for United

Sports Brief earlier reported that Brazilian winger Antony is struggling for consistency on the right side of United's attack after his €95m move from Ajax.

He has been slammed by former Premier League striker Darren Bent for being a YouTube footballer who is only focused on doing showoff rather than playing for the team.

Fans will hope the impending return of Sancho will make the Brazilian sit up as the English man could play on either side of the attack.
