Marcus Rashford is the man of the moment for Manchester United following the World Cup

The United star had an impressive tournament in Qatar and has brought back the form to the club

His recent form is a boost for club and manager but how does it impact the two

Manchester United academy graduate Marcus Rashford is one of the most in-form footballers in the world since club football returned after the Qatar 2022 World Cup enforced break.

He has scored nine goals in nine appearances after the World Cup, including a superb opener at the weekend in the 3-2 loss to Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Emirates.

The form could not have come at a better time for head coach Erik Ten Hag whose push to end the club's trophy drought continues on four fronts as reported by The Athletic.

What Ten Hag said on Rashford

Ten Hag, speaking ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Nottingham Forest reiterated his desire for the 25 year old to stay at the club, as quoted by Metro UK.

‘I think he understands Man United is his club, that’s first. But also, in this team, I think he is playing his best football. This team is constructed so that his qualities come to the fore and if we want to get the success we want, we need him,’ he said.

PSG express interest in Rashford

The club triggered an option to extend his contract by one-year last year and talks continue over a new long-term contract as reported by Manchester Evening News, as he was already attracting interest from a European heavyweight.

As reported by Guardian, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi made a public statement affirming the club's interest in the England international and would be pleased to have him for free if he does not extend his contract.

His recent form puts the club in a difficult spot. He could use it as an advantage to negotiate a higher salary in his new contract, as well as using it as an advantage to seal a move elsewhere.

Rashford becoming an influence

Marcus Rashford debuted a new goal celebration which hinted at his mental health struggles last year and the progress he has made, and it is now becoming a trend for footballers.

Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich and Newcastle United's Joelinton replicated it last night after Bukayo Saka, Danny Welbeck and Tammy Abraham previously replicated it.

Rashford's message after Arsenal loss

Manchester United's unbeaten run since the World Cup ended was halted by a 3-2 loss to league leaders Arsenal, thanks to a 90th minute winner from Eddie Nketiah.

Rashford took to his Twitter page to post a message to the fans, as earlier reported by Sports Brief, he admitted to being devastated by the manner of the loss and looked ahead to the coming games.

United take on Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup later tonight for a chance to make the final and win their first silverware since 2017.
