Man United midfielder Scott McTominay has revealed a message Lisandro Martinez sent his Red Devils' teammates after he won the World Cup.

Martinez was part of the Argentina squad which won the global football showpiece in Qatar last Sunday.

The Mirror reports South Americans stunned France 4-2 in post-match penalties to lift the trophy for the first time since 1986.

Licha, as Martinez is fondly known, played a role in his side's impressive campaign as he featured five times for the Lionel Scaloni-tutored outfit.

And the defender took some time to send his Man United teammates a warm message after his World Cup triumph.

What Martinez sent Man United teammates

Martinez now seems to have set his sights on winning a trophy with Man United after his success with the national team.

In a video shared by Man United, McTominay revealed he messaged Martinez after Sunday's remarkable final and the Argentine disclosed, he was already looking at fresh glory with the club.

"We go for the next one," Licha said.
“Success will always be winning trophies and that’s the most important thing at this football club. With the manager that we’ve got now, we’ve got a really good opportunity to start that journey, especially this year," he added.

Modric almost joined Man United

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Rio Ferdinand has revealed how he almost convinced Luka Modric to join Manchester United in 2012.

Modric left Tottenham for Madrid but could have joined Manchester United after talks with Ferdinand.

The Croatian has gone on to become one of the best midfielders of his generation at Real Madrid.
