- Granada vs Man United Europa League meeting ended in a 2-0 win in favour of the Red Devils
- Fernandes and Rashford found the back of the net in either half of the tie to secure a crucial win
- A favourable result in the second leg will see United set up a date with either Ajax or Roma in the semis
- Solskjaer will be without Shaw, Maguire and McTominay in the reverse tie with the trio now suspended
Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes scored a goal each at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes to put Man United on course to qualifying for this season's Europa League semis.
Goalscoring chances were far and wide during the Thursday, April 8, meeting, with United having to wait until the half-hour mark to break the deadlock.
Rashford stepped up to score the much-needed opener, with the Englishman killing the dropping ball from Victor Lindelof's 60-yard pass majestically before sliding it past Silva from 10 yards to make it 1-0.
Herrera should have drawn his side level minutes before the break, but he was unlucky as his effort hit the outside of the post.
With the tie set for a slim 1-0 scoreline, Brice conceded a penalty at stoppage time after he fouled Bruno Fernandes in the area, with the Portuguese making no mistake from the spot to double United's advantage.
The Red Devils will now be keen to get the job done in the second leg, with victory enough to earn them a date with the winner between Ajax and AS Roma in the semis.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to do that without three key players, including Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay who are suspended for the encounter after they were booked in Spain.
Having bowed out of the FA Cup after their defeat to Leicester, and with rivals Man City on the brink of winning the Premier League, the Europa League is United's only golden chance to end the season with a silverware.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Bruno Fernandes has been left furious at Brighton defender Joel Veltman who he claimed almost broke his leg during Man United's 2-1 win over Brighton at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese provided the assist for Marcus Rashford's equalizer two minutes after the hour mark which canceled out Danny Welbeck's opening goal.
Fernandes was taken out by Veltman just after delivering the decisive pass to Rashford at the edge of the 18-yard box.
