  • Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has commented on the club's possible sale
  • The Glazer family recently announced their intentions to put the club on the market
  • The Red Devils spent €240 million in the summer but still need more quality players

The groundbreaking announcement that the Glazer family were planning on selling Manchester United was met with huge cheers from fans across the world.

Red Devils supporters have for a long time asked that the club be 'released from the shackles of the Glazers', saying the family has let the club down since they took over in 2005.

With the club likely to be sold in the next few months, the club's manager, Erik ten Hag has said a potential new owner would be good for his project.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, the club has not won a league title. They have also undergone six different managers.

The likes of Liverpool and Manchester City have dominated domestically and in Europe, leaving the Red Devils a shadow of their former selves.

Sky Sports notes that the Raine Group, which facilitated the sale of Chelsea a few months ago, is acting as United's exclusive financial adviser, with Rothschild and Co. performing the same role to the Glazer family shareholders.

How has ten Hag reacted?

According to the Athletic, ten Hag sees the sale of the club as an opportunity to bring in more money for his project, which is just a few months old.

The Dutch manager said that new owners would potentially invest more into the squad, which would help his team compete with state-backed clubs like Manchester City and Newcastle United.

“My information is that it will only be good things, because there will be more investment possible, which is good," he commented.

He insisted the club needs the right players to be able to compete in the Premier League.

"It’s clear that when you don’t have the right players and quality players, you will not be successful and achieve the targets you set. The competition is really tough, so you need the right players."

The club spent €240.32 million in the summer with six new faces arriving, including marquee signing Antony, who cost the club €95 million, per Transfermarkt.

Ten Hag on Jadon Sancho

Sports Brief earlier reported on Red Devils boss ten Hag saying Jadon Sancho is not ready to play - mentally or physically.

The winger has missed two of Manchester United's mid-season friendlies, as he continues to work on his own fitness program.

Ten Hag has claimed that Gareth Southgate's decision to omit Sancho from his UEFA Nations League and World Cup squads might have taken its toll.
