He accused the club of betraying him, sensationally said he does not respect Ten Hag and seemed to call Rooney a 'rat' for his criticism towards the Portugal forward.

Ronaldo and his Portugal colleagues looked sharp in their suits and shiny boots as they landed at Hamad International Airport on Friday evening, according to the Sun.

The 37-year-old missed Portugal's 4-0 friendly victory over Nigeria due to a stomach bug. Ronaldo is looking to win his first World Cup to cement the status of the greatest footballer of all time.

Portugal kick off their tournament against Ghana on Thursday next week, which is arguably their easiest game in a tough group containing Uruguay and South Korea.

This is Portugal's seventh appearance at the World Cup. They produced their best performance in 2006 when they reached the semis and finished fourth, according to beIN.

Ronaldo consider firing Ronaldo

Sports Brief earlier reported on Manchester United exploring the option of sacking Ronaldo after his bombshell interview.

Ronaldo's current contract expires in June, and if it is torn up, the club won't pay him the £16 million he is supposed to earn until then.

According to reports, Man United do not want Ronaldo back on the team when the World Cup concludes in December.
