Manchester United have set in motion a process to fire Cristiano Ronaldo, following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan this week.

United to sack Ronaldo?

According to an exclusive by the Daily Mail, United's lawyers are confident the five-time Ballon d'Or breached the terms of his contract with the astonishing revelations he made in the interview.

The full interview with Piers Morgan aired on Wednesday and Thursday, after several explosive snippets last weekend shocked the football world.

Man Utd released a statement on Friday afternoon saying they had started a process of responding to Ronaldo.

"Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion."

However, the Daily Mail understands that the club has initiated legal action to terminate his contract.

Ronaldo attacks ten Hag

Sports Brief earlier reported on Ronaldo aiming several jabs at ten Hag, a testament to their strained relationship.

Ronaldo has gone on record and insisted he does not respect the former Ajax manager, following recent altercations between the two.

Ronaldo's latest comments are set to end his second stint at Manchester United, with the January transfer window looming.
