Ronaldo recently refused to come on as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur on 19th October when the team secured an impressive 2-0 win, according to Reuters.

After refusing to come on, Ronaldo stormed off the pitch before the end of the game, sparking heavy criticism from fans on social media. The 37-year-old then fell out with Erik ten Hag.

Rooney blasts Ronaldo

Rooney and Ronaldo formed a devastating partnership a few years ago, leading United to success in the Premier League and the Champions League. Rooney said Ronaldo's behaviour is unacceptable.

“But I just think the things he has done from the start of the season it is not acceptable for Manchester United. I’ve seen Roy Keane defending him. Roy wouldn’t accept that. Roy wouldn’t accept that at all," he said to Talksport in an exclusive interview.

Rooney advised Ronaldo to get to work and accept any role Ten Hag gives him.

“For Cristiano, just get your head down and work and be ready to play when the manager needs you. If he does that, he will be an asset. If he doesn’t, it will become an unwanted distraction.”

Ronaldo was banished by Ten Hag and then dropped for the Chelsea game in October after his Tottenham tantrum.

Rooney scored 253 goals for United in 559 appearances and remains one of the club's greatest players.

Ronaldo nearly quit football

Sports Brief earlier reported on Ronaldo nearly quitting football because of homesickness and loneliness.

Ronaldo struggled with several things, including being teased for his heavy accent and getting into bust-ups in the schoolyard.

He cried every day because he missed his parents and siblings back in Madeira.
