Brazilian footballer Fred who currently plays for Premier League giants Manchester United has picked Barcelona legend Lionel Messi as his toughest opponent so far in his football career.

Interestingly, his teammate at the Brazilian national team and Old Trafford Alex Telles chose Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar as the best he has faced.

Fred is one of the top midfielders in the world considering his records and achievements so far with the Brazilian national team and Manchester United.

Neymar and Lionel Messi are also among the best forwards in the world considering their styles of play and the goals they have scored for their clubs.

Before Neymar moved to France, the Brazilian played with Lionel Messi at Barcelona and won titles together before he departed.

According to the report on GOAL, Fred stated that it is so difficult for any player to face Lionel Messi whom he picked as a superstar.

“Neymar is a great player, it is so difficult to mark him.
“For me, I think the toughest player I came up against was Messi; he's out of this world, he's a genius.
“For me he's the best in the world, a great player and I think he's the toughest opponent I've played against.”

Alex Telles on the other hand explained below.

“I've come up against a lot of difficult opponents. I answered the same question last week and nothing has changed.
“Neymar was one of the hardest players to mark given his quality, speed and intelligence both with the national team and when we played against PSG.''

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Barcelona legend Rivaldo believes Lionel Messi will not leave Barcelona when his contract expires this summer.

The 48-year-old former midfielder says the Argentine has been full of life since Joan Laporta returned as the president this month.

And this is an indication that the six-time Ballon d'Or winner will extend his stay with the Catalans beyond this campaign.

Messi attempted to force a move away from the Nou Camp last summer after falling out with the former board headed by Josep Maria Bartomeu but changed his mind to avoid legal issues.
