  • Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has said playing with Lionel Messi contributed to Alejandro Garnacho's attitude problem
  • Bruno Fernandes and Erik ten Hag have said the youngster has attitude issues at the start of the season
  • The Argentine star scored when United beat Real Sociedad 1-0 in the Europa League

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has boldly claimed that rubbing shoulders with Lionel Messi could've played a part in Alejandro Garnacho's attitude problem at Old Trafford early in the season.

Scholes has earned a reputation for speaking his mind and has done so since hanging up his boots close to a decade ago.

The 18-year-old Argentine joined the Red Devils in October 2020 and is considered an exciting and promising prospect. He scored his first senior goal for the club against Real Sociedad in the Europa League, according to the Guardian.

Garnacho's performances in United's last two Europa League matches has shown why the youngster could be called up to the Argentina national set-up for the World Cup.

Scholes blames Messi

Man United boss Erik ten Hag hinted that the young winger had attitude problems. He was included in the preseason tour in Thailand and Australia but did not play a single minute.

Moreover, Scholes said that Messi probably contributed to his having a bad attitude, according to MEN.

"He said that was in pre-season, so maybe he was too big for his boots in the summer. He did go with Argentina and play with Messi, and maybe he has come back and thought 'this is me, and I am part of this team'."

Bruno Fernandes praised Garnacho but said he had attitude issues.

"He did not start the best during pre-season and maybe did not have the attitude that he should have had. But he has changed that now and you can see that with his performances on the pitch."

Garnacho uses Ronaldo celebration

Sports Brief earlier reported on Garnacho asking permission to use the now-popular Cristiano Ronaldo celebration, which has taken the world of sports by storm.

Unnoticed footage shows Alejandro Garnacho asking Cristiano Ronaldo for permission to use the Portugal star’s celebration.

After his goal, the young attacker celebrated with his teammates and took the chance to perform a celebration that has now gone global.
