  • Cristiano Ronaldo is staring at a bleak future with Manchester United after seemingly falling out with Erik ten Hag
  • The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is in the final months of his Man United contract, with his deal set to expire in the summer
  • Reports suggest that Ronaldo could potentially depart Old Trafford before the summer, with a January exit mooted
  • The Portuguese striker is unlikely to lack offers should this come to fruition, with a number of top clubs expected to make a move for him

Cristiano Ronaldo's future with Manchester United is again up in the air just months after he decided to continue with the Premier League giants.

The veteran striker is said to have pushed for a summer exit to fulfil his desire to play in the Champions League this season.

However, his push bore no fruits, as United reportedly failed to receive any substantial offers for the 37-year-old.

The failed summer exit left Ronaldo with no choice but to continue at Old Trafford under new boss Erik ten Hag.

While he was initially expected to play a vital role for the Red Devils under the Dutchman, that has not been the case for the Portuguese.

Instead, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has seen himself play a less prominent role, with Ten Hag limiting him to just two Premier League starts so far.

Ronaldo's disastrous start to the campaign recently went from bad to worse after he was banished from the first team for leaving the pitch before the full-time whistle of United's clash with Tottenham last week.

All indications now point at a possible Old Trafford exit for the Man United icon as he looks to redeem himself as one of the world's best footballers.

Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer options

Should he depart the Theatre of Dreams, Ronaldo is sure not to fall short of offers from top clubs in and outside Europe.

Given his longevity, the Portugal international could still continue playing at the highest level, with Chelsea among the options.

The Blues were linked with a move for the United striker last summer, but the move failed to materialise.

However, there are reports the west Londoners could make a move for the former Real Madrid star.

The other options within Europe are Paris Saint-Germain and a potential return to boyhood club Sporting Lisbon.

According to the Daily Star, a switch to Qatar has also been mooted, with clubs in the Middle East said to be keeping tabs on the beleaguered striker.

Meanwhile, a potential move to the Major League Soccer is also on the cards, with David Beckham's Inter Miami linked.

Chelsea ready to pursue Cristiano

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Chelsea could pursue a stunning January transfer move for troubled Man United attacker Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is in the final months of his contract at Old Trafford, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the ongoing season.

While United have the option of triggering a 12-month extension, that is unlikely to happen, especially after the veteran forward fell down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag.
