A photo of a football fan changing his Man United shirt to Man City's, reportedly captured during the Manchester derby on Sunday, October 2, has gone viral.

United suffered a 6-3 humbling defeat during their trip to the Etihad Stadium, with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden stealing the show.

The City duo netted a hat-trick each during the mouthwatering clash to condemn the Red Devils to a comprehensive defeat.

Foden needed just eight minutes of action to break the deadlock, with Haaland doubling the advantage in the 34th minute.

The two youngsters scored two more goals before the interval before they completed their hat-trick in the second half.

Antony and Martial found the back of the net for the visitors to earn Erik ten Hag's charges a consolation.

Fan caught on camera taking off Man United shirt during Manchester derby

However, there was a bizarre moment during the clash in the stands, as a yet-to-be-identified fan was caught on camera switching jerseys.

Perhaps due to the embarrassment, the fan is thought to have deemed it fit to take off a United jersey before he pulled on City's.

Photos from the hilarious moment were shared by ESPN on Twitter, leaving social media users in stitches.

One pointed out:

"This is betrayal to Man United. I hate it support Man United lose or win."

Another posted:

"He needs to be banned, not to support either of the team. It's a betrayal to both teams."

A third noted:

While a fourth joked:
