According to The Sun, Matic is baffled by constant social media trolls who have targeted Maguire after every United performance stretching back to last season. Maguire hasn't been in his best form for a while, a situation that has seen him dropped at his club.

Matic urged social media trolls to get a life.

What people are doing to him, it is a disaster. Everything has to have limits and some of these people writing on social media, they don’t have their own lives, so they just have to write bad things about someone else.

Maguire tries to ignore trolls

The 29-year-old remains the most expensive defender in the world but is yet to live up to the hefty price tag. United manager, Erik Ten Hag dropped Maguire to the bench after their first two games of the season, which they embarrassingly lost to Brighton and Brentford.

The England international stated that he doesn't read what people say about him.

I am all good, ready to play, I feel fit and fresh. On my form, I don't know what has been said, I don't really read about it.

Maguire will come under much more scrutiny, with games for club and country coming in thick and fast. He has started just the three games for the club so far, with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane now the first choice pairing for Ten Hag.

Gareth Southgate backs Maguire

Sports Brief earlier reported on Maguire receiving the unwavering support from England manager Southgate. The Three Lions coach said that the defender offers unique qualities to his side and complements others better.

Maguire has been a critical cog in the England wheel for the last few years. He has played a crucial role in the team's 2018 World Cup semi-final and Euro 2020 final runs.
