  • Manchester United's star Bruno Fernandes has stated that former Manchester City captain Fernandinho and Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha complain to the referees too
  • Fernandes has always been on the receiving end of criticism for moaning a lot to match officials
  • The midfielder conducted an expansive interview where he wants afraid to drop the names of his opponents while giving examples

Bruno Fernandes has defended his incessant complaints to the referees by stating that other top players do it as well.

Fernandes has been a revelation to Manchester United since joining the club in January 2020. He, however, suffered a slight dip in form last season, but he has since become of United's key players.

He is also part of the leadership group at the club, which involves Harry Maguire and David De Gea. The attacking midfielder is always seen demonstrating with referees and opponents when decisions don't go his way.

In an interview with The Athletic, the Portuguese international insisted that he would continue pestering referees. He also doesn't understand why he is the only player who gets criticised for doing it, yet other top players do it as well.

I play for Man United, so I know all the cameras are on our players, but everyone in the Premier League does that. At Crystal Palace, Zaha always moans at the referee. It is because he gets fouled, so it is normal he moans at the refer ee. That’s normal! He wants his fouls and for the referee to give yellows to opponents.

Fernandinho, who was at Manchester City, was always moaning at the referee and only kicking me! Bernardo Silva, for example, who people see as a quiet person. He is one of the guys who is always talking to the referees. He probably does not do it as intensely as I do, but I saw it in the national team, so I know.

Fernandes had earlier attacked former Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Manchester United's assistant captain Bruno Fernandes has dragged Nicolas Pepe's name in the mud in an uncharacteristic fashion.

Fernandes drew comparisons between himself and Pepe and asked why the former Arsenal winger received preferential treatment from fans and the press.

The Portuguese international was addressing his loss of form last season and a poor results return from Manchester United. The club ended up finishing sixth and had to settle for a place in the Europa League.
