Portugal and Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo penned a heartfelt tribute following the passing of Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen sadly passed away on Thursday evening at the age of 96, and since the sad news hit the internet tributes have poured in thick and fast as the world celebrated the life of the longest-serving British monarch.

Ronaldo joined arms with a truckload of sportsmen and the rest of the world in paying their last respects to the Queen.

The 37-year-old Portugal captain has had two spells in the Premier League, took to the photo-sharing App, Instagram to express his 'everlasting love for the Queen and England.

“Seven years of my career were played in the Premier League, making this my 8th season living in England," Ronaldo started as quoted by talkSPORT.
"Throughout these years, I’ve felt the everlasting love of the UK for its Queen, and how important Her Majesty was and will forever be to the British people.
“I pay my respect to her memory and mourn this irreplaceable loss with the country I’ve learned to call home. My thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family.”

Jose Mourinho joins the rest of the world in paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho joined the rest of the world in mourning the death and celebrating the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who sadly passed away last evening at the age of 96.

Mourinho reserved a couple of minutes in his press conference following Roma's defeat to Ludogorets, to pay homage to the Queen who he says was a 'wonderful' figure for the United Kingdom.

Mourinho spoke to Sky Italia after his team defeated the Europa League. The Royal Family confirmed her Majesty's death on Thursday evening and tributes and condolences from around the globe keep pouring in.
